Is it strep? please help!!?

Okay so last Friday I had a really bad sore throat followed by sinus congestion. It lasted for a few days but then as my sore throat was almost gone, I was really congested and had a bad headache. I felt like I was hard of hearing because of my congestion and in a few more days I could hear again. The headache stopped also and a dry cough delveloped. This was on wednesday. My cough then began producing a little mucus and for a day or two that's all it was. I woke up Friday morning and my sore throat was back but not as painful. Now its Saturday and all day my right gland has been pretty swollen and kind of hard. Now its getting more uncomfortable to swallow again and I tried looking in my throat but its hard to see anything. 3 of my friend have mono but I haven't been around them much and definitely not shared any drinks. Please help because my doctor is kind of an idiot and he only checks for something If I tell him I think I have it. Please help...hopefully its just a cold, what do you think?
