Marine Reserve Question?

Hi, all. I have a friend who's in the Marine Corps Reserve. I'm interested in joining the Marine Reserve. Anyways, question is: What is the maximum time you can stay at home before shipping out to Parris Island? Now, I know they have the DEP which lasts a max of one year. My friend told me that if you qualify through the ASVAB for your MOS, you can stay a max of two years. True? False?
